Overview

New Zealand is a member state of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), whose principal aim is to ensure the world’s oceans are properly surveyed and charted. The IHO coordinates hydrographic offices around the world and promotes uniformity in nautical charts and documents.

It has developed a new S-100 hydrographic standard designed to support a greater range of hydrographic-related digital data sources and products for safe navigation.
In accordance with the international S-100 hydrographic standard, LINZ must produce new charting products: S-101 Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC), S-102 Bathymetric Surface, and S-104 Water Level Information for Surface Navigation. While the S-100 hydrographic standards are being adopted, LINZ will also need to continue to produce and maintain official paper charts.

This RFI invites suppliers to tell us about proposed solutions that could help inform our production of New Zealand’s Next Generation Official Nautical Paper Chart-Technical Solution.

Responses to be submitted by midday on 24 May 2024 (earlier responses are welcome). All responses and questions must be directed to: commercial@linz.govt.nz. Please do not respond to this RFI through GETS.

Please note that this is not a tender process. There is no contract award from this RFI process.
