The Wellington Metro Upgrade Programme (WMUP) is issuing this Invitation to Participate (ITP) on behalf of KiwiRail’s Capital Projects and Asset Development team. This ITP is a new procurement initiative under which we are seeking to secure three suppliers from a single procurement process. We want to understand your capability and capacity (Response) and hear how this translates into your ways of working (Design Challenge).
The Regional Rail programme plans to revitalise and modernize the regional passenger rail services in the Lower North Island on the NIMT and the Wairarapa Line. The programme focusses on the introduction of new low-emission hybrid passenger trains, infrastructure improvements through station upgrades, and an increase in service frequency to ensure a reliable, convenient and environmentally sustainable transportation options for the future.
To support the additional trains KiwiRail wish to obtain the services of experienced design consultants to deliver the following services:
• Civil and track design for new loop sites including formation and drainage at Tokomaru, Kuku and Koputaroa (approx. 3km of track) (single designer)
• Civil and track design for new stabling sites including formation and drainage at Wellington, Masterton and Palmerston North (single designer)
• Civil and track design, including platforms and pedestrian crossing at Maymorn (single designer)
• Civil design for platform upgrades along the NIMT and Wairarapa Lines (awarded to highest performing designer of the packages above)
We are looking for credible hand-on teams who will deliver pragmatic design solutions that are easy to construct and deliver value for money. We have a genuine interest to challenge the norm and look at different ways of working!
