Breast Cancer Register Research

The Health Research Council of New Zealand (HRC) and The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation (NZBCF) have formed a joint research initiative to fund research that leverages the NZBCF’s investment in breast cancer registers.

Through this Request for Proposals (RFP), the funding partners are seeking high quality research that will use data from the New Zealand breast cancer registers (which are currently being consolidated into a single national register), with the aim of delivering a positive health outcome for women with breast cancer in New Zealand.

This initiative will involve a two-stage application process. Applicants will be required to firstly submit an Expression of Interest via the HRC’s online application portal (HRC Gateway). Please note that Expressions of Interest for this initiative are submitted in three sections:
◾Online registration – applicants are required to complete a web-based form that is submitted electronically via HRC Gateway (due 1pm, Thursday 20 August 2015).
◾Research proposal – applicants are required to complete an application form (using the appropriate EOI216-Register) that is then uploaded via HRC Gateway (due 1pm, Thursday 3 September 2015).
◾First Named Investigator NZ Standard CV – a CV for the first named investigator is also required to be uploaded and submitted via Gateway (due 1pm, Thursday 3rd September 2015).

Following assessment of the Expressions of Interest, successful applicants will be invited to submit a full application.

A funding pool of approximately $400,000 (exclusive of GST) is available for allocation. The funding per proposal is up to a maximum of $200,000 (exclusive of GST), and for a duration of up to 24 months.
