The Housing Minister, Hon. Dr Megan Woods announced on 22 June 2021 that grant funding will be available under the Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF). The IAF is designed to allocate funding to new or upgraded infrastructure (such as transport, water and flood management infrastructure) that unlocks housing development in the short- to medium- term and enables a meaningful contribution to housing outcomes in areas of need.
Kainga Ora has been directed to administer the IAF and conduct a process designed to allocate funding to suitable Eligible Infrastructure Projects. The Invitation for Expressions of Interest (EOI) has been issued by Kainga Ora as the first Stage in that process. Territorial Authority, developer, and Maori Applicants that meet the Eligibility Criteria specified in the EOI Invitation are invited to apply for funding from the IAF. Applicants should submit EOIs containing a Proposal with high level information about their housing development and its infrastructure requirements by 5pm on 18 August 2021.
