Anti-ligature furniture refers to specialist furniture designed to either prevent a ligature from being attached to it, or to collapse or breakaway under load. MidCentral requires a range of anti-ligature furniture items that:
• enable the room in which it is placed, to provide a safe environment, supporting a person’s dignity and comfort, without posing a risk to the person or staff
• provide functional and durable performance, helping clinical staff to create a therapeutic environment for their patients while reducing the risk of self-harm.

The range of furniture required for the AMHU is set out in the RFQ documents. It includes a variety of:
• beds and mattresses,
• chairs, seats, stools and benches,
• couches and sofas, and
• tables (dining, conference and coffee).

All furniture items must be supplied and installed by mid July 2025.
