We will shortly be going to market for development of national sector guidance to improve equitable access to diabetes services to prevent and manage diabetes-related complications (Guidance to improve access to diabetes services).
This will ultimately result in the development of a suite of national guidance for the prevention and management of diabetes complications, with an emphasis on improving equitable outcomes for high priority populations of Māori and Pacific people. The guidance, to be completed by June 2024, will cover three diabetes complications: amputations, blindness and kidney failure, and will be aimed at supporting the development of national Health Pathways, and future commissioning opportunities.
The following are In Scope:
• National guidance for three diabetes complications: amputations; blindness; and kidney disease
• Each guidance will include best practice clinical guidance, advice on how to deliver the clinical guidance, and measures to allow evaluation of implementation.
• Each guidance will reflect the voice of consumers, service providers and both regulated and unregulated workforce.
The following are Out of Scope:
• National guidance for other, related diabetes complications.
• Implementation of guidance.
We intend to go to market early March 2023. The opportunity will be advertised on the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS), through an Open RFP.
