Te Whatu Ora, in partnership with Te Aka Whai Ora, is intending to seek suppliers to deliver the following three whānau centred service components relating to the objectives of the Dementia Mate Wareware Action Plan:
1. Post-diagnostic supports for people with dementia mate wareware, their whānau and carers. Up to four initiatives are intended to be funded over four years.
2. Dementia Navigators – to coordinate post diagnostic supports and work with people with dementia mate wareware, their whānau and carers. Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora intend to fund providers to employ and develop up to 16 Dementia Navigators throughout New Zealand.
3. Innovative respite – development and delivery of innovative options for flexible and whānau centred respite for carers.
The intention is to run a combined multi step process for all of the above service components with an initial Registration of Interest (ROI) followed by a Request for Proposal (RFP).
When the process commences, potential respondents will be invited to submit a ROI for one or more of the above service components. After evaluation of the ROI responses, shortlisted respondents will be invited to participate in the next step.
Potential respondents will need to have the ability, or partner with others who have the ability, to ensure proposed services are whānau centred, support equitable health outcomes for people with dementia and their whanau. In particular, the proposed services must provide appropriate supports to one or more of the priority populations of Māori, Pacific, rural and people with younger onset dementia.
Information on Probity - Probity will form an important part of the process and a Probity Advisor has been appointed to the process and will be advised in the ROI.
Indicative timeframes - The ROI /RFP (for all three components) is expected to be released in early March 2023. Timeframes and procurement approach remain subject to change.
Note: This is a Future Procurement Opportunity (FPO) to alert suppliers of a potential upcoming procurement activity, though does not represent a commitment by Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora to procure. Suppliers can subscribe to this FPO. When the ROI is released, the FPO will be linked to the ROI so that those suppliers who have subscribed to the FPO will automatically be notified of the ROI being released.
