Overview

Hawke’s Bay District Health Board is calling for registrations of interest from suitably experienced construction companies for the construction of a new birthing unit at the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Soldiers’ Memorial in Hastings.
The project consists of a mix of new build (approx 220m2) and rebuilding/refurbishing of existing structures (approx 250m2) to provide 7x Birthing/Postnatal rooms, Staffroom, Family Room and utility/store rooms. In addition, the flat roof over the existing Maternity Unit (known as Ata Rangi) is to be covered over with a new pitched roof.
Contractors shall have a demonstrated ability to coordinate and carry out demolition and building works while maintaining normal business operations. Contractors will be expected to have wide ranging experience in all normal building trades and to deliver a high standard of workmanship within specified timeframes.
Construction is expected to commence in April 2015, subject to local authority consent and stakeholder sign-off.

In registering your interest you will need to provide:
1. A profile of your company, the proposed key personnel and collective resources and experience your company can provide.
2. Details of relevant work completed within the last 5 years and capability of undertaking a project of this nature and size. Where applicable include clinics, surgeries, health and education related building projects, including references.
3. Confirmation of your ability to adhere to construction time frames, with resources and methods that will be implemented should work fall behind schedule for any reason.
4. An understanding of access into buildings for people with disabilities.
5. Proven Health & Safety record.
