Overview
The Greater Wellington Regional Council (GW) has made the decision to retire grazing across a number of our park locations and turn those areas back into forest. The Parks Leadership Team Fire plans have identified potential increased fire risk during the transition period from pastures to forest.
This increased risk has resulted in the Buyer needing to install multiple firebreaks at the Baring Head within East Harbour Regional Park and the Belmont Regional Parks. Therefore, GW will be going to market soon with an RFT for suppliers who can build those firebreaks in each location to assist with the fire risk management in those areas.
