Grey District Council’s (GDC) local roading network consists of 648km of roads, of that 391km are sealed and 256km unsealed. The urban network is 161km in length (25%) with the remaining 487 (75%) rural roads and there are 209 bridges across the district.
In terms of value, the road network represents over half of GDC’s infrastructure, and the maintenance contract is the GDC’s largest contract and therefore is significant to both Council and our communities.
The current maintenance contract ends on 30 June 2023. The new contract will commence on 1 July 2023. It is proposed an initial 3-year term with the right to renew for a further two 2-year periods making a maximum total of 7 years.
At this time we invite suppliers to signal their interest in this contract opportunity by participating in an interactive meeting with GDC to: discuss the opportunity, provide feedback to GDC on the scope of work and contract conditions, and ask questions of our team.
This discussion is commercial in-confidence and will be used by GDC to inform our procurement process and final contract documents. The interactives will not be used to shortlist respondents or be used for evaluation of submitted tenders at the Request for Tender stage, suppliers who do not participate in the interactive are still invited to submit a tender via an open competitive process.
The scope of work is to be confirmed, but in general includes maintenance and renewals of sealed and unsealed roads, bridges, drainage, footpaths, cycle paths, and vegetation control. The new contract will include some activities that have previously been let as separate contracts, including sealed pavement resurfacing, line marking, and footpath renewals.
An Open Request for Tender will be undertaken via New Zealand Government GETS.GOVT.NZ.
We aim for the Request for Tender in GETS & Council’s media channel including newspapers in late November / early December 2022.
If you are interested in this opportunity and would like to take the opportunity to have an interactive session with GDC, please email our point of contact with preferred dates and times during the weeks of 25 October to 4 November.
