Property Market Scan - Future Office Accommodation Needs for Government in the Wellington CBD and Greater Wellington Region.

The Government Property Group (GPG), a division of New Zealand Government Procurement and Property, is the Functional Leader for Property for the New Zealand Government.

GPG helps government agencies develop and implement property strategies and solutions to meet the goals of efficient and effective management of the Crown Office Estate.

GPG is seeking to understand the future of the office accommodation market in the Wellington region (comprising the urban areas of Wellington CBD, the Upper and Lower Hutt, Porirua, Kapiti coast and Wairarapa).

Due to office lease expiries, changing workplace strategies and consolidation of premises, Government’s office accommodation needs are evolving and require on going assessment.

This market scan is seeking to identify office accommodation projects of scale over the next five years, as set out in the high-level requirements section below, so that GPG maintains an overarching property strategy for the Crown Office Estate which aligns with the future of the Wellington region office accommodation market.

This market scan is being undertaken with the support of those agencies who may have already conducted similar investigations of the property market across both the Wellington CBD and greater Wellington region.
