The Institute of Geological and Nuclear Science (GNS) is seeking to engage an internal audit service provider to provide outsourced Internal Audit services over a three-year term. The GNS Internal Audit Charter, outlines the following specific objectives for the internal audit function.
1. The primary purpose is to give assurance to the Board, Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) and the Executive Leadership Team on the existence and effectiveness of internal controls that mitigate risks that GNS faces.
2. The aim of the internal audit programme and choice of internal audit service provider is to provide an independent and objective assurance and consulting activity that is designed to add value and improve the internal control environment of GNS.
3. Internal auditing, in conjunction with an effective risk management framework helps GNS to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of the company’s internal control environment, risk management and governance processes.
