Gisborne District Council (Council) in partnership with the Department of Conservation (DOC) and local iwi Ngati Oneone, are seeking to redevelop the Cook Landing Site as part of the Tairāwhiti Navigations project. The aim of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to identify a suitable design team to develop designs for this nationally significant site and connecting walkways.
Council are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced design team that are able to work closely with iwi to gather stories for interpretation within the landscape. The design team should consist of a landscape architect, engineers (civil, transport and possibly structural) and a multi media consultant. The expected scope of works includes the collation of local stories, landscaping of the site to reflect its significant history, storytelling through the use of multi-media, a Banks garden, new carparks and arrival area and walkway connections to the Inner harbour and Titirangi. Iwi will play a key role in the development of concepts.
