Overview

The Authority wants to procure a world-class and industry-leading web-based comparison and switching solution to enable consumers to compare available electricity plans.

Following an extensive consultation process, where a diverse range of stakeholders contributed their insights and valuable feedback, the Authority has decided to continue supporting an externally-run comparison and switching solution, with a website at its heart. This decision is consistent with the feedback we received from the consultation.

Consumers are at the heart of everything the Authority does. Electricity is a crucial service in our everyday lives and one that is helping us to innovate for future generations. Since the Authority was established in 2010, we have worked to promote retail market competition and protect consumer interests by supporting access to information, comparison and switching initiatives.

The Authority’s vision is for consumers to have choices in accessing the energy they need, now and in the future. Improving consumer mobility by helping consumers compare and switch retail electricity plans is a critical enabler of that vision and aligns with our statutory objectives of ensuring market competition, and the protection of consumer interests. This also aligns with our desired outcomes relating to our consumer accessibility and mobility programme.
