Overview

The Alborn skink is at high risk of extinction with the current single population estimated to be between 40-60 individuals. This population exists in a single pakihi fragment of 5ha, in the beech forest of Victoria Conservation Park, Reefton.
This tender is for the supply and construction of a new Alborn skink predator proof fence. The fence is required to prevent mice, rats, mustelids, cats, pigs and deer from entering the site.
The proposed fence shall be approx. 781m in length and 1.9m in height with an additional 200mm - buried vertically underground with a 400mm buried skirt. The fence construction includes driven timber fence posts, full height 8x6 aperture 316 stainless steel woven mesh installation, fabrication and installation of stainless steel fence capping, fabrication and installation of stainless steel self-closing access gate, installation of 8kV solar powered electric fence and all associated excavation earthworks works.
