Overview

The Department of Conservation is leading the Dolomite Point Redevelopment Project (DPRP), an exciting and high-profile redevelopment in Punakaiki on the South Island's West Coast.

The DPRP aspires to be an exemplar of modern and sustainable development in a sensitive natural setting. The project's anchor piece is a new architecturally-designed and low carbon Experience and Exhibition Centre comprising predominantly of timber and glass and with a living (green) roof. A range of other visitor facility and experience upgrades are involved in the DPRP and include outdoor decking, dwell spaces and an outdoor shelter; car park and access redevelopment; walkway/pathway construction, pedestrian promenade/streetscape upgrades; landscaping; and service upgrades and installation (mechanical/electrical/hydraulic etc).

The Department is seeking a motivated, qualified, capable, and experienced supplier to be the project's Lead Contractor for supply and delivery of construction services for the main construction phase of the DPRP.

The Department is running a two-step procurement process to select a Lead Contractor, namely:

1) Step 1 - Registration of Interest (this opportunity) and subject to short-listing and invitation;
2) Step 2 - Request for Tender.

Only qualifying and shortlisted respondents will be invited to participate in Step 2.

Three suppliers will be nominated as sub-contractors to the successful Lead Contractor. These nominated sub-contractors relate to specialist timber, glass, and roofing (living/green) supply.

Construction is expected to commence at the end of 2021.
