We want to make contractors aware of a track construction opportunity in Taranaki.
DOC will be seeking contractors to undertake track upgrades of the existing tracks from Manganui Ski field through to Pouakai Hut including the link from Jacobs Ladder down to the North Egmont Visitor Centre.
The upcoming tender will be for up to six (6) packages of work and contractors would be able to bid for one, multiple or all packages. We are seeking to engage capable contractors that can work with DOC to provide a quality track, constructed in ways that minimise ongoing maintenance and using local materials and labour where possible.
Provision of helicopter services will be included in this procurement and the Principal will supply a quantum of the track timber required.
The Request for Tender will be released in July 2021 and construction will be undertaken in summer 2021/22.
A site visit will take place as part of this tender. This will involve approximately 5 hours of walking up into alpine areas of the track with frequent stops to discuss track design and site conditions. Full details of the site visit, including the time and date, will be announced when the RFT is issued.
