Overview
The ICT Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Telecommunications as a Service (TaaS) Common Capability solutions were established in 2011 and 2015 (respectively) for agencies within the NZ Government to consistently and seamlessly purchase commonly needed services from approved suppliers.
As Lead Agency, the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) acting on behalf of the Government Chief Digital Officer (GCDO) is currently reviewing options for replacements for these solutions which are intended to be made available on Marketplace, when they expire in late 2026.
Results of the Strategic Review conducted in 2023, combined with historical feedback, indicated there is strong interest from both agencies and suppliers to implement new solutions that can continue meeting current needs and accommodate future technology advances, whilst supporting their changing requirements and scale. To help achieve this outcome, one of the key tasks is to engage effectively with the supply market.
A Request for Information (RFI) is planned to be released in February 2025.
The purpose is to seek information and input, on a range of subject matters, to best inform the future, from both existing IaaS and TaaS suppliers and the broader supply market. It is expected this will take the form of a survey or questionnaire.
Decisions around the final procurement approach for the new offerings will be made throughout 2025.
We encourage potential suppliers to participate in the upcoming and future procurement processes.
DIA is committed to including supplier input throughout this process. As such, following the RFI, it is anticipated that we may seek to engage further to clarify information provided.
All parties that register for this Notice will receive updates when posted. No further action is required at this stage.
Please note: Participation in this FPO and the subsequent RFI is non-mandatory and will not disqualify a supplier from participating in any future open procurements.
