Overview

The Dunedin City Council (DCC) owns and maintains retaining walls as part of the City’s transport network. The DCC Transport Network Team have identified two poor condition retaining wall structures. To address road user and pedestrian safety the following sites have been prioritised in 2024/25 for this retaining wall contract:
• Brown Street - failing retaining wall above lower carriageway also supporting private property above.
• Sidey Street - failing retaining wall supporting higher footpath and carriageway above.

The DCC seeks to partner with a Contractor experienced in retaining wall construction including working at heights and ground anchor installation. It is important to us that we work with a Contractor who has experienced staff with a track record of reducing costs and/or improving the outcomes of a project for a client. We expect the Contractor to show proactive communication and raise any technical issues with the DCC Point of Contact in a timely manner. This includes early communication when there may be any potential cost implications for the DCC. This project must be completed by 31 May 2025.
