Creative New Zealand is establishing an independent digital arts entity for artists and arts organisations in Aotearoa.
In response to our rapidly changing environment in Aotearoa New Zealand, the new entity will aim to build the arts and cultural sector’s capability to create and distribute work and increase audience engagement via digital technology.
The digital arts entity will give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
What outcomes do we want to see?
Acting as a facilitator, connector, and enabler, we want the entity to help:
• innovate New Zealand arts practice
• develop new or improved commercial opportunities (both domestically and globally) within the arts and culture sector
• improve access to arts and culture in Aotearoa
• improve resilience for the arts and culture sector in Aotearoa.
In the week commencing 14 March 2022 we plan to release a call for Registrations of Interest (ROI) for the establishment and operation of this new entity. This part of the process will focus on the attributes we are seeking from potential operators of the Digital Arts entity. The ROI will close on Thursday 14 April.
From the ROIs a shortlist of respondents will be invited to respond to a Request for Proposal (RFP) to establish and operate the new Digital Arts entity over a four-year period. We anticipate offering an initial contract for a term of 12 months beginning late 2022.
