Overview

We are looking to establish a one-year contract from 21st October 2024 to 30th June 2025 to maintain our biodiversity enhancement sites around the lower Huritini/Halswell River catchment and the wider Te Waihora area.
Whakaora Te Waihora is an operational programme of the Te Waihora Co-Governance Group. The vision for Whakaora Te Waihora is “To restore and rejuvenate the mauri and ecosystem of Te Waihora and its catchment”, which includes restoring sites of wetland and riparian vegetation.
Our enhancement sites are planted pockets of native vegetation amongst old river channels, wetlands and adjacent waterways. The maintenance of these nodes is the backbone of what we are doing. We require a supplier with good plant identification knowledge, especially weed and native plant identification skills, and proven experience in weed control work, that can maintain these sites to the outlined standards.
The maintenance will consist of controlling weeds to a 0.6m radius around each of the planted native plants within a node site according to Work Schedule, ensuring any native seedlings within that radius are retained. The detailed work requirements are outlined in Attachment 1: Work Schedule and Specifications.
Respondents are encouraged to visit the sites and familiarise themselves with the biodiversity nodes listed, to better understand and price the work requirements for each, outlined in Attachment 2: Site Maps.
Respondents are asked to supply a price for this work as outlined on the Response Form provided. This is a large body of work with set delivery periods which forms the basis of a strong work program and a good reference of quality and performance for successful suppliers. There will be an option to extend the contract a year to 30th June 2026 and again a further year to 30th June 2027 by agreement between both parties, upon successful completion of each year.
