High-growth early-stage businesses play an important role in generating employment growth, commercialising Intellectual Property (IP) and growing emerging sectors. The Technology Incubator Programme aims to increase the number of high-growth early-stage businesses developing technological innovations, to support a more productive and sustainable economy.

International experience shows that there is a significant divide between scientific or technological innovation and its successful commercialisation. These technologies can require many years of investment and development to become market-ready. Every innovation system faces this challenge between concept and commercialisation; the Technology Incubator Programme is an intervention that helps bridge this gap.

This is an exciting opportunity to partner with Callaghan Innovation as a Technology Incubator Programme Partner, to influence the development of New Zealand's start-up ecosystem. Technology Incubators will help entrepreneurs and ventures to commercialist technologies, improve their business capability, and facilitate pathways to global markets and capital investment.

Programme partners will have the satisfaction of participating in a programme that will contribute to the success of a new generation of advanced technology companies, to be part of a thriving start-up system in New Zealand and grow the NZ economy.

Callaghan Innovation is seeking to appoint suitably qualified Technology Incubators to supply incubation services with a goal of increasing the number of high-growth, deep-tech early-stage businesses in New Zealand. Successful Applicants will receive Operational Funding to support the operational costs of their Technology Incubator and will also become eligible to apply for Repayable Grants and Pre-Incubation Grants.

Who can apply?
Any organisation that can meet the requirements of the Technology Incubator Programme is eligible to apply. Overseas organisations are eligible to apply if they can demonstrate to Callaghan Innovation's satisfaction that they will establish a significant presence in New Zealand by forming a New Zealand legal entity.
