This Registration of Interest (ROI) is the first stage of a two-stage procurement process for the supply, installation, commissioning and ongoing support of low emission ferry charging equipment. In this ROI Auckland Transport (AT) intends to shortlist a maximum of three suppliers for the second stage Request for Proposal (RFP) process (see 3.2 Shortlisting Approach).
AT is conducting a separate parallel RFP titled Low Emission Ferry Landside Infrastructure Early Contractor Involvement (ECI). This RFP will appoint a Contractor to provide ECI services followed by the negotiation and potential award of physical works contracts.
The second stage RFP to suppliers shortlisted as a result of this ROI will be conducted either by AT or the ECI Contractor, in alignment with standard AT processes. If the process is led by the ECI contractor, AT will have the option to have a representative present at all activities related to the procurement process (including contract negotiations), and AT will have final sign-off on any evaluation outcome and resulting contract (including the option to novate the contract from the Contractor to AT following the conclusion of the defects liability period or as agreed between the parties).
A final decision regarding which party conducts the RFP and is the contracting party for charging equipment will be made following the completion of the ROI process.
We are seeking a supplier that can provide the following:
• Supply, installation and commissioning of Megawatt Charging Standard (MCS) charging equipment for Stage 1 comprising:
o Downtown Ferry Terminal – 3 x 3.3MW berths
o Hobsonville Point – 1 x 2.2MW berth
o Half Moon Bay – 1 x 3.3MW berth
Note: The required power per berth is to be delivered via two MCS plugs per berth, as each ferry has two independent battery banks.
• One berth of charging equipment delivered to Auckland, NZ by 1 July 2024 and commissioned and operational on site by 30 September 2024 to align with the delivery of Auckland’s first electric ferry.
• The remaining four berths of charging equipment in Stage 1 to be commissioned and operational by 31 December 2024.
