Auckland Transport has around 700 doors across all our facilities. These doors are classified into type 1 and type 2 door units. Type 1 comprises of doors on compliance schedules, automatic doors, fire egress doors, fire rated doors, smoke stop doors, controlled access doors/gates, roller doors/gates etc. These doors must be maintained quarterly and reinstated promptly ensuring they do not disrupt foot and vehicle traffic and do not obstruct egress during emergency. Any malfunction of these doors without an alternate route can render the facility unsafe for public use. All interfacing with controlled access system must be tested regularly to avoid man-trap situation. Type 2 doors are mainly internal partition doors, toilet doors and back of house low use doors, not along the main egress routes for fire evacuation
