Overview

This Request for Information (RFI) is issued for Auckland Transport (AT). The aim of this process is to seek and obtain information from organisations about the potential supply and installation of electric charging infrastructure to support the operation of electric ferries on the Auckland ferry network.

Participants are invited to submit a response containing information on the following, preferably in the order as detailed below:

1. Specifications and costs of fast/ rapid chargers at approximately 2MWh to 3MWh
2. Expected charge rates per minute
3. Potential mitigations to reduce the peak load demand from the electricity network during high load and rapid charging
4. What is available ‘off the shelf’, what would require customisation and what is in the final stages of development
5. Current, expected, or potential supply constraints
6. Lead times from confirmation of order by AT to delivery, and potential installation and commissioning (if provided)
7. Indicative costs for shipping and installation
8. Indicative costs for ongoing maintenance including replacement parts of the chargers
9. Options to commercialise the charging infrastructure and/or make available for 3rd party cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks or light vessels i.e. ability to on-charge to 3rd party for electricity used
10. Potential procurement and commercial approaches
11. Expected length of asset life cycle
12. Future roadmap for the technology
13. Maintenance requirements and schedule of replacement of components
14. Overview of what operational and maintenance qualifications are required and training provided
15. Warranty information
16. Compliance with New Zealand Workplace requirements to protect employees using equipment and the public
17. Compliance with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
18. Compatibility with Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) application protocol
19. Compatibility with electricity network operators’ Demand Energy Requirement Management System (DERMS)
20. Any other considerations

Participants are not required to submit a response covering all aspects if you have no information to submit.
