Overview

The purpose of this Advance Notice is to inform consulting engineering suppliers of an upcoming tender opportunity for the Downtown Infrastructure Development Programme (DIDP) Streetscape Works - Civil Engineering Services (civil, traffic and structural engineering), to support the developed and detailed design phases of the Streetscapes Works through to post construction support.

The Downtown Infrastructure Development Programme (DIDP) is a series of eight major projects that are all based around Quay St in the CBD of Auckland City and include marine and non-marine works. The Streetscape Works includes three non-marine projects of the DIDP.

The DIDP work is being driven by the importance of upgrading the Quay St seawall; there is a window of opportunity to complete these and upgrade the Downtown area prior to the Americas Cup (AC36) and APEC in 2021, the opening of the Commercial Bay development, and while the CRL construction is underway.

The Programme is being undertaken to improve connections from Auckland’s Downtown to the waterfront, improve the local public realm, and improve pedestrian permeability. This will be done by de-tuning Quay St for vehicles, changing traffic patterns, incorporating an integrated cycle path on the north side of Quay St, providing bus priority from Hobson to Albert St and Commerce St to Britomart Place.

The Civil Engineering scope of services includes providing engineering services (civil, traffic and structural engineering) for investigation, design and construction for the DIDP Streetscape works at all stages of the programme. Please see the attached notice for a full description of the project and requirements.
