Overview

Transport Networks for Growth Business and Route Protection Procurement
Industry Briefing for Legal RMA suppliers - 21st March 2017

By 2043 Auckland is projected to grow by more than 1 million people. While the majority of this growth is planned to occur within the existing urban area, 15,000 hectares of Future Urban land (including 1400 hectares for new business) has been zoned in the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan. The zoning focuses on the following areas:
• -North – Warkworth, Wainui and Silverdale-Dairy Flat
• -North-west — Whenuapai, Redhills, Kumeu-Huapai and Riverhead
• -South — Takanini, Opaheke-Drury, Drury-West, Paerata and Pukekohe.

There is an immediate need to identify and protect transportation corridors that will support Auckland’s future urban growth areas. The programme of corridors is known as the ‘Transport Networks for Growth’ programme, previously known as the Transport for Future Urban Growth (TFUG) programme. Execution of the programme will require the integrated use of business cases and using the information gathered to route protect future corridors through the RMA process.
Auckland Transport and NZ Transport Agency are progressing their procurement strategy for legal services to deliver business cases and route protection for transport corridors within the Transport Networks for Growth programme.

The purpose of this industry briefing is to raise awareness within the legal profession of the project, the procurement method being proposed, contractual form & timeframes and outline the timeframe for the procurement process for the purposes of those who may wish to tender for the work.

The briefing will be at Level 5, 4 Viaduct Harbour Ave Auckland at 8.30am on Tuesday 21st March 2017.

Following the briefing Auckland Transport will provide participants with background information on the project. Some of the information may be considered commercially sensitive and consequently a Confidentiality Agreement (Appendix A) will need to be completed before the information can be released. Please read the attached pdf for further information.
