Auckland DHB Central Plant and Tunnel - Main Contractor Briefing Presentation
The Central Plant and Tunnel project is the single largest project for the Facilities Infrastructure Remediation Programme, with an estimated construction value of $150M+.
This project serves to replace the existing central plant building at Auckland City Hospital and to create the first section of the proposed tunnel loop for the overall site master plan. This project will address the immediate highly critical risk of reliance on the existing central plant building and will enable the site for future growth, by providing space for infrastructure expansion within the new Central Plant Building.
The project is currently undergoing developed design. The proposed physical works elements comprise of a six-storey central plant building, heavy civil engineering (tunnel), service installation (incl. commissioning) and a series of early enabling works to prepare the site for the main works. The construction works will be carried out in a live hospital environment and minimising construction impacts on hospital operations will be critical to the successful delivery of this project.
