Overview

Anchor AIMS Games is New Zealand’s largest sports competition for 11, 12 and 13 year olds and will be taking place from 8 - 13 September 2019 in Tauranga. This year 11,000 young athletes will be competing across 23 sports. More than 1,500 coaches, parents, and supporters will also be in attendance.

This is the third-year ACC SportSmart, ACC’s sports injury prevention programme, has formally partnered with the AIMS Games (As a Tier 2 Sponsor, under Anchor) to help deliver on injury prevention objectives to reduce sport related injury rates among young athletes. It’s an important age to start teaching them the skills to form good lifelong habits to stay in sport and off the side-line with injuries.

The sponsorship is delivered in collaboration with ACC’s national sporting partners, NZ Rugby, NZ Football and Netball NZ to educate coaches and students heading to AIMS Games about how to warm up effectively, recover from physical loading and manage concussion.
