Your invitation to ACC’s Interventional Pain Management (IPM) service workshop
We’re working to improve how we support our clients’ access to Interventional Pain Management services both in and outside of a Pain Management Services multidisciplinary team. Our aim is to provide a better experience for all our key stakeholders; our clients, providers and ACC staff.
Over the last 18 months we’ve been working hard to better understand current procedures, pathways and assess international evidence, and we are now focusing on what needs to be improved. A number of themes have emerged over the last few months:
• IPM procedures are often delivered in isolation from other pain rehabilitation services.
• The pathway for clients to access IPM services is overly complex and can result in a poor client experience.
• The quicker a client’s pain needs are identified and managed the better, but there are challenges in ensuring effective rehabilitation (particularly when interventional procedures are recommended).
As a result of these emerging themes, we’re looking for ways to work with and support the health sector – providing more effective pain management services and cross sector alignment.
