A BIT ABOUT US
Accident Compensation Corporation (“ACC”) is a crown entity and is governed by a Board appointed by the Minister for ACC.
ACC provides comprehensive, no fault personal injury cover for all New Zealand residents and visitors to New Zealand by working to reduce the overall incidence and impact of injury in New Zealand through the delivery of injury prevention, rehabilitation and compensation services.
When injury does occur, ACC gives people access to a range of medical, financial and other support aimed at helping them return to work and everyday life as quickly and fully as possible.
ACC enters into contracts with Suppliers to provide services to New Zealand residents and visitors to New Zealand.
INFORMATION
ACC and the Ministry of Health are seeking expressions of interest from Occupational Therapists who currently undertake or wish to gain the Ministry of Health Vehicle Assessor credential in order to undertake vehicle assessments and need to complete the University of Sydney Certificate Driver Assessment & Training Course for Occupational Therapists (DATO) to meet their contractual obligations or are interested in upskilling in this specialty field.
This course is being brought to Wellington in January 2016.
In bringing this teaching opportunity to New Zealand, the qualification will remain through the University of Sydney but some content will be adapted to the New Zealand environment.
This training will be held over the 18th – 29th of January 2016 (10 days). Note this includes Wellington Anniversary Day (which will be a training day).
This is also an opportunity for any Occupational Therapists who currently work as a vehicle assessor and who hold DATO or an equivalent qualification to attend the one day refresher that will include New Zealand specific content as part of the programme.
The refresher day will be held on the 21st of January 2016 and will be integrated into the training programme.
ACC will sponsor University fees for Occupational Therapists who hold the DATO qualification or its equivalent for the refresher day and for ACC contracted Transport for Independence Service or Highly Specialised Transport for Independence Service providers. Other participants will be required to fund the University fees (TBC approximately $4,200 NZD).
