Background
The growth of mangroves in the Manukau Harbour fronting the area of interest to the Mangere Otahuhu Local Board has increased rapidly over recent years resulting in decreased water flow, increased sedimentation and a resulting increase in the rate of mangrove colonisation.
The Mangere Otahuhu Local Board have identified mangrove management in the harbour as priority in their local board plan and have identified a number of areas where removal of mangroves is to be undertaken to achieve this goal.
A coastal consent has been lodged to allow removal of approximately 23 hectares of mature mangroves growing in four separate locations

Scope
The scope of the proposed project is
Cut bundle and remove mangroves from the coastal marine area
Process removed material and transport from the site
Reinstate reserve access sites to pre removal condition
All work to be completed by Sept 11TH 2015.
