The University of Canterbury is seeking registration of interest (ROI) from qualified partners interested in a brownfield redevelopment opportunity.

At the heart of the University’s 80ha campus in Christchurch, New Zealand, there is a reinforced concrete building built in the 1960s with 20,000sqm of space over eight floors. The building presently houses laboratories and faculty office space and workshops to support the departments of physics and chemistry.

Repurposing of the building for use for alternative educational purposes could represent a viable business opportunity for an appropriate partner. During and following the ROI process, the University would make available to interested parties all of its existing materials in relation to the current state of the building and a limited amount of work already undertaken for alternative uses for some or all of the building.
