Overview

Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake (NHC) is our government’s response to New Zealand’s unique geographical environment. Created to provide support and financial assistance to New Zealanders after a natural hazard event, we are committed to reducing the impact of natural hazards on people, property, and our communities. We do this by providing the first layer of residential land and building insurance cover, NHCover, for a range of natural hazards. NHCover is funded by levies, reinsurance and a Crown guarantee. Whilst we have an in-house capability to manage a small volume of claims annually, we are seeking to appoint a panel of suppliers, including any consortium of suppliers, to provide contingent claim management services.

This is an opportunity to be part of an exciting and innovative initiative that contributes to mitigating a strategic risk for the NHC but also, and possibly more importantly, exposes us to innovation that we could look to adopt in the Natural Disaster Response Model (NDRM).
