Overview

Overview

ACC works to reduce the overall incidence and impact of injury in New Zealand, through delivery of injury prevention, rehabilitation and compensation services.

From 1 July 2015, ACC will be opening the VMS contract to new entrants, to ensure ACC can access a range of high-quality service providers to deliver expert medical advice for our clients.

VMS includes three medical assessment services and one advisory service. These are the Vocational Medical Assistance (VMA) service, Vocational Medical Review (VMR) service, Initial Medical Assessment (IMA) service and Vocational Independence Medical Assessment (VIMA) service.

To be a supplier or a service provider under the ACC Vocational Medical Services contract, you must be a registered Medical Practitioner with vocational registration in either: General practice; Occupational medicine or Rehabilitation medicine. Evidence of a Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Medicine, industrial health, or equivalent will need to be provided at the time of submitting your response to ACC.

The open application process for the VMS has been classified into three streams for new and previous applicants. Each stream outlines a set of instructions required based on the applicant’s circumstances. More information is detailed in the Applicant Guidance document.
